7 Kickstart Brewiches, Singapore

This café is located along quiet Armenian Street, opposite The Substation and the Peranankan Museum.  It is a short walk from the Singapore Management University campus and Bras Basah subway station.

The décor is kitschy.  The odour is suspect.

It gets worse.

When my club sandwich (S$12) arrived, my heart sank.  It looked like it was cobbled together at home using third rate ingredients – think supermarket sliced bread and reconstituted “bacon”.  Worst of all, it was served on a prison-style metal plate.

They don’t accept credit cards. Nor NETS.  Only cash.

I don’t understand why anyone would bother spending moolah on such dispiriting nosh.

The only saving grace about this place – thanks to its relatively secluded location, if you are having an affair, then Prison Café might prove to be a suitable place to meet up with Mrs Jones.

For nosh-seekers, my advice is to cross the road to the microscopic café at the Peranakan Museum for curry at a very affordable S$7.50.
