Masaharu Morimoto, well-known as one of the Iron Chefs America, specializes in harmonizing Western and Japanese ingredients. Morimoto was trained in Hiroshima, Japan, and New York’s Nobu.  He first opened his eponymous restaurant chain in Philadelphia. Since then, he has opened more branches across the US, Japan, Mumbai, New Delhi and now Bangkok.

Decorated with its’ sophisticated and stylist hardwood designs, the sizable restaurant gives off a feeling of dining in traditional with a little modern twist.  The innermost sushi bar allows diners to get glimpses into its semi-open kitchen. Along with an alfresco area and a drinking lounge.

For whose who love traditional Japanese delights, the straight sushi and sahimi (from B1.300) is the perfect choice. Served alongside are Sashimi Caesar salad (B320), hamachi tacos (B290) that is playfully “gift-wrapped” in a clear plastic sheet and Morimoto’s Championship burger (B590), which boasts a katsu-style breaded wagyu patty, pickles, tops with tartare and barbecue sauce. A true real mix of traditional, fashionable and fusion dishes.

Another signature cross-culture dish created by Morimoto is the tuna pizza (B390), a crispy tortilla crust topped with fresh tuna, olives, tomatoes, chili and anchovy aioli. Morimoto created this dish as a way to introduce Americans to raw fish. So whether or not you are a big fan of raw sushi or sashimi, this dish is definitely one of the dish you have to try.

Meanwhile, for those who prefer to try something brand new, choose the ishi yaki buri bop (B590). This dish takes its cues from Korean-style mixed rice and features the yellow tail and vegetables cooked at your table in a hot-stone bowl. A dish that serves a whole new level of international taste and experience.

And for those with a sweet-tooth or simply a dessert lover, try out Morimoto Monkeybread (B350), made with brioche dough and topped with sliced banana, fresh raspberry, pecan and banana caramel chocolate cookie ice cream.

Alongside with Morimoto is French chef Arnaud Drouville who heads the Bangkok kitchen. He too introduces some very exclusive but unique dishes, for example like the roasted lobster epice (B1,200) which is their take on Pad Thai and features a whole lobster.

Feeling thirsty already? Mixologist Shingo Gokan is ready to mix and serve a drinking experience you will always remember. His cocktail list goes heavy on Japanese spirits and refreshing flavors. Be sure to try out the Yuzu (shochu, yuzu, shiso and yukari salt, B380) or Kyuri (Hendrick’s gin, cucumber, lemongrass, pineapple and absinthe, B320).
