Royal Orchid Sheraton, Bangkok

The best part about staying at the Royal Orchid Sheraton, apart from the relatively genuine service, is the access to the newly renovated Lounge.  The lounge, in its calming blues and tans, is located on the 27th floor of the hotel.

The lounge serves breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails.  The breakfast is a limited selection compared to the breakfast at the lobby café downstairs (due to limited space in the lounge).  The afternoon tea and cocktails are not the best I have seen, but they are sufficient.

It is great to sit here in the evenings and watch the sun set over the river while enjoying the decent white/ red wines they offer.

What is surprising about the lounge is that despite it being newly renovated only one month ago, the electric sockets remain Thai sockets.  In other words, other countries’ plugs cannot be plugged into them without an adapter.  They should have changed the sockets and installed more sockets during the renovation.

If you are staying at the Royal Orchid Sheraton, I strongly recommend getting a room with lounge access.
