Kiyoshi is the first restaurant by foodpreneur and chef Donald Chien with 18 years of experience, all in Japanese restaurant kitchens.&nbsp; Upon entering, it was quite dim.&nbsp; I was pleasantly surprised.&nbsp; It was like an evening izakaya experience although it was broad daylight outside.&nbsp; There are many private booths.&nbsp; There are the usual open area tables.&nbsp; You can also choose to sit at the bar.&nbsp; They have put thought into the decor.&nbsp; It is very neat and they really put thought into evoking Japan.&nbsp; There are a lot of izakaya -type curtains with Japanese motifs on them. . Green Tea (iced\/hot) $2 Thankfully, this is not bottled, sugary green tea.&nbsp; It is sugar-less and very cooling.&nbsp; Roku Blossom $14 I enjoyed this drink.&nbsp; Made with Roku Gin, it is refreshing and pairs excellently with Ama Ebi Karaage (below). Ama Ebi Karaage $10.80 Super-crunchy and full of calcium goodness of the shells.&nbsp; It is an excellent starter and the Roku&nbsp; Blossom help them to go down more easily.&nbsp; Mini Sashimi Moriawase $26.80 5 kinds of sashimi 5 pieces Possibly the thickest sashimi I have tried.&nbsp; I always enjoy sashimi.&nbsp; Sometimes, there really isn&#8217;t anything better than sashimi. Salmon Mentai Roll $22.80 Seared salmon Mentai sushi roll with breaded prawn Then came Kiyoshi&#8217;s blockbuster.&nbsp; Kiyoshi has handmade flavoured soba.&nbsp; There are several flavours such as yuzu, matcha, ohba and original.&nbsp; You can see how they are made here: Handmade Yuzukuri Soba Kaisen Tempura Zaru Yuzu Soba $35.80 Snow crab, salmon, prawn tempura with vegetables I tried the Yuzu Soba.&nbsp; It was amazing!&nbsp; You can smell and taste the citrus, zesty flavour.&nbsp; It was so refreshing.&nbsp; In addition, the Soba had great al dente-ness.&nbsp; I was also amazed that Chef Donald was able to hand cut the soba so finely.&nbsp; I really like soba.&nbsp; I am really glad to have found possibly Singapore&#8217;s first and only flavoured soba.
