I was excited to be checking into Parkroyal on Pickering.  <\/span>I heard the architects of Parkroyal on Pickering also designed Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Singapore<\/a>.  <\/span>Crowne Plaza has the best designed hotel rooms yet.  <\/span>So I was excited to see what Parkroyal on Pickering has to offer. <\/span><\/p>\n

Like Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Singapore , Parkroyal on Pickering has corridors that are un-airconditioned.  <\/span>The room is not as beautiful nor as functional (thoughtful) as Crowne Plaza.  <\/span>There is too much wood in the design of the room.  <\/span>I wish they would at least vary the colour of the wood used.  <\/span>That way, they can create the ambience of quality\/ luxury.  <\/span>  <\/span><\/p>\n

As the rooms have floor-to ceiling windows and the showers\/ toilets have glass walls, remember to lower the curtains lest you want to brighten up the day of office workers in neighbouring office blocks.<\/p>\n

The turn-down service is completely weird and inconsistent.  <\/span>The first evening, Housekeeping merely folded down the corner of my duvet.  <\/span>That\u2019s literally it.  <\/span>Everything else was untouched.  <\/span>All the wet towels and trash were left behind.  <\/span>The second evening was a better turn-down service—the duvet was folded down, a bottle water and glass was left by my bedside, all the wet towels were taken away and replaced, the trash was cleared. <\/span><\/p>\n

The lounge on the 16th<\/sup> floor is not especially luxurious, but I like it.  <\/span>It has a high ceiling, floor-to-ceiling glass panes on three sides of the lounge which overlooks the city and the small park in front of the hotel.  <\/span>The design of the lounge is a mixture of a lounge, a kitchen and a library.  <\/span>There is a huge (communal) table (just as in a kitchen) and also quieter, smaller tables and corners.<\/p>\n

Besides the usual afternoon tea (2-4pm) and evening cocktails (6-8pm), you can actually get champagne breakfast here.  <\/span>The breakfast selection here is not as huge as the breakfast downstairs, but champagne!!!!!  <\/span>Everyday!!!!!!  <\/span>And free flow sparkling wine for the rest of the day!!!!!!!<\/p>\n

The quality of the food served here is good.  <\/span>The quality of the food served during cocktail hour is better than Crowne Plaza. <\/span><\/p>\n

The service in the lounge is excellent.  <\/span>The staff here would politely ask you for your name and then subsequently always address you by name. They are very accommodating to your requests and are effective at their jobs.  <\/span>Even when the lounge gets busy, such as during weekends and public holidays in Singapore, they still attend to the requests of guests efficiently and never seem flustered.<\/p>\n

There seems to be a lot of gay couples staying here, which makes sense as the hotel is just a short walk away from the gay pubs and establishments in Chinatown.<\/p>\n\n\r\n \r\n Booking.com<\/a>\r\n<\/ins>
