Penfolds Koonunga Hill Autumn Riesling (Australia) $14 per glass; $58 per bottle

The wine displays a light straw color with lime green hues.

As I bring the glass to my nose, I am immediately struck by its intense perfume. Upon deeper exploration, I find delicate notes of pink rose petal, Turkish delight, and a hint of lemony bath salts. There’s also a subtle spice that comes through, thanks to the addition of 6% Traminer.

Moving to the palate, I experience a delightful balance between sweetness and acidity. The soft, mouth-watering talcy acidity pairs beautifully with flavors reminiscent of Turkish delight and freshly squeezed lime juice. This combination makes the wine incredibly approachable, with a wonderfully lingering flavor that keeps me coming back for more.

De Bortoli DB Family Sel Chardonnay (Australia) $13 per glass; $52 per bottle

This wine is absolutely delicious.

The wine shows a very pale straw color with a hint of green.

As I take in the aroma, I notice tight, fresh pear along with stone fruit, all balanced by a subtle hint of oak. On the palate, there are early picked peach and melon notes that create a weighty mouthfeel, leading to a fresh and crisp finish.

It should be a competent accompaniment to all the bar bites below.
