CBC Coffee and Bread Cafe, Johor Bahru

CBC Coffee and Bread Cafe is a chic, international standard cafe in the heart of Mount Austin foodie enclave.

The decor is chic and inviting.  Exposed red brick walls are complemented by a lot of calming green plants and cafe art of their food.  Looking at these beautiful cafe art,  you just get into the mood of eating.  Manager Lucas is casually but chicly dressed in a white shirt,  blue denim and a black apron.

This cafe invites customers to stay and spend time there.  They have very thoughtfully provided many board games and magazines.

Matcha Blended RM$15.90

The Matcha Blended is a lovely mint colour.  I love the attention to detail—- they have decorated the ample whipped cream with a sprig of mint and 2 sticks of matcha flavoured Pokey. I particularly adored the mint—- it provides a pop of vibrant colour as well as a refreshing pop.

Soup of the Day RM$15.90

The soup of the day was mushroom soup.  Again,  the attention to detail was evident here.  There is plenty of sliced mushroom in the creamy soup.  The soup is liberally sprinkled with herb.  The garlic toast was very well done— it was garlicky, buttery and toasted to a light crisp.  Again,  they have not neglected to sprinkle the toast with herb for consistency of taste and appearance.

Chicken Waffle with Sunny Side Up Egg RM$29.90 (Deep fried or grilled)

The portion is huge.  This is a feast fit for a king.  I’m glad to report the waffles are not to sweet,  crisp on the outside,  light and fluffy on the inside.  The chicken cutlets was very crispy and not at all oily.

Salmon Aglio Olio RM$27.90

This one is a stand-out.  The salmon has been flavoured with their home made Miso sauce.  The umami of the Miso goes excellently with the lightly grilled salmon.  I can’t fault the spaghetti Aglio Olio either.

Rose Latte (Hot: RM$10.90; Cold: RM$12.90)

How about rounding off your meal with a beautiful cup of Rose Latte?  Beautifully decorated with dried rose petals,  the latte is also infused with the delicately sweet fragrance of Rose which contrast excellently with the slight bitterness of coffee.  A rose bouquet in a cup.  How romantic!

This is a hardworking cafe that aims to please.
