Guincho a Galera, Macau
Located in the iconic Grand Lisboa Macau, Guincho a Galera takes Portuguese fine-dining to a whole new level.
Originally from north of Cascais in Portugal, Fortaleza do Guincho was the original restaurant offering panoramic views over the beach at Guicho atop cliffs. Today, it has developed a reputation for the high quality of products and maintains its standards in Macau.
The first Michelin-starred overseas venture from Portugal, the restaurant reinvents its classic Portuguese style with a new, refined flair; making it the perfect contemporary choice for an authentic Portuguese meal.
Guincho a Galera is a well-furnished enclave that exudes a sophisticated European-styled ambience. The atmosphere is unashamedly old-fashioned, like a blast from the past. The handsome wood, chandeliers and many oil paintings bring out a historic flair. The comfortable seats and white linen cloths offer a cozy look and feel, complemented by signature rimmed white chinaware and a fine selection of Riedel glassware. The orange and gold accents are incorporated for a rustic vintage style yet with a luxurious and unpretentious atmosphere. The restaurant shares a massive wine cellar with more than 15,700 labels between 13 other restaurants housed in the Lisboa Hotels Complex.
Guincho a Galera boasts authentic Portuguese cuisine with delicacies presented in the most exquisite styles. Celebrate the richness of Macanese dishes with the delicious, flawless baked crab meat in shell. Feast in true Portuguese panache with the stewed seafood in “Cataplana” Portuguese style. The large helping of fresh seafood is perfect for sharing. Another must try dish is the royal duck rice with braised duck breast in blood sauce. The rice is cooked to a crisp, flavoured with the tender duck breast served pink and topped with a delicious rich sauce. Not a light dish but so delicious. For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert trolley offers a tantalizing extravagance of 6 different Portuguese at MOP150.
Guincho a Galera has an extensive wine list, which has earned the Wine Spectator’s Grand Award. Offering a bespoke array of more than 8,700 labels, be spoilt for choice as you take your pick from, interestingly, an iPad. The wine selection is impressive by even the most stringent standards and all wines are complemented by the pristine sommelier collection of Riedel glasses. The high quality wines are perfect to enhance the fine foods and dining experience.
Along the way, the service crew makes you feel pampered by paying very good attention to every detail. Not only are they knowledgeable and friendly, the service is impeccable and a delight.
