Senso, Singapore
Senso is a bit of a Singapore institution. Established in 2000, Senso is an unofficial pioneer in the Singaporean fine-dining scene. All my Singaporean friends have been to Senso on dates.
Housed in a converted shophouse, the ambience sure is atmospheric. The restaurant is just a 5-min walk from Telok Ayer subway station. Right next to the restaurant is the financial district.
When I dined during lunch on a Tuesday, the restaurant was doing brisk business, mostly bankers, big bosses and a couple of expat wives.
Gamberoni S$28
Sauteed King Tiger Prawns, Eggplant mousse, “Raw & Cooked” Vegetables, Crustacean sauce
It was a colourful plate and the prawns were firm and seared.
Carpaccio Di Manzo S$28
Beef Carpaccio, Aioli, Rucola Pesto, Parmesan, Radish, Frisee Salad
Ticks all the right boxes.
Filetto Di Merluzzo S$44
Cod fillet, Carrot Puree, Purple Cauliflower, Creamy Polenta, Chianti Reduction
The poisson was fresh and free of any fishy taste and smell. The presentation was colourful.
Tiramisu “Senso” S$14
The service works, works, works. They are energetic, fast and really know what they are doing. They also seem quite genuinely warm. I can see why so many business people choose to dine here.
