“Taxi” from Airport, Phnom Penh
Brutally frank:
There is a stand right after you pass through immigration and customs. The stand advertises “Taxis”. I went up to it. The man inside the stand hands me a ticket that says US$7 and another man ushers me from the stand to….. a Tuk Tuk, while a line of real taxis (4-wheeled, air-conditioned) wait right outside arrivals. Ripped off? I’m not sure. I didn’t mind too much. Cars (including taxis) and tuk-tuks use different lanes to get out of the airport. The car lane had a line but the Tuk-Tuk lane was empty. I breezed right through. Be prepared for blistering sun and heat though.
You pay the Tuk-Tuk driver only when you reached your destination. It helps to have small notes eg US$5, US$1. They may have difficulty even for change for US$10.
The journey between airport and city centre takes around 45 minutes on Tuk-Tuk. I paid US$6 for my trip from city centre to airport.
