I chose the 200-min Paradise spa treatment (RM$750++). The introduction of Paradise treatment writes “A day of pampering starts with foot bath, gentle exfoliation, soothing yogurt splash and nourishing milk & floral bath. Leave the stress and tension away with invigorating Balinese Massage followed by anti-oxidant rich Luminous ‘C’ & ‘Sea’ Mask for a sheer bliss…” The spa treatment includes: Foot bath ~ Traditional Exfoliate ~ Yogurt Splash ~ Milk & Floral Bath ~ Signature Massage ~ Luminous ‘C’ & ‘Sea’ Facial ~ Coconut Scalp Treatment. I arrived on time for my appointment. While waiting, I was served warm ginger tea and a very cold towel to refresh my face and neck. Perfect for my walk in from the Pavilion under the KL sun! I was brought to my room. It was a couple’s room (ie 2 beds) with its own bath tub, a shower and a toilet. With an Asian woven throw on the bed to the wooden shutters, the room had an Asian, rustic feel. The room was not particularly new nor especially clean, but clean enough. After changing into disposable paper underwear and wrapping myself with a robe, my spa treatment starts. I was brought to sit down on a wooden chair to have floral footbath. After bathing my feet in the water decorated with flowers, my female therapist Yustina scrubbed my feet with rose salt foot scrub. Boy, I needed it! It felt so good. I had really neglected my feet. I really needed a foot scrub to scrub away all that dead, hard skin on my feet. Yustina also added antiseptic bath salt to my foot bath, which I appreciated. My feet felt sanitised and clean afterwards, thanks to the antiseptic bath salt. I was then led to the massage bed and I lay down. Yustina then rubbed rose salt scrub all over my body. It was invigorating, yet at the same time, I felt like all weariness and soreness being rubbed away. After that, with the salt scrub still on my body, she applied cold yoghurt to my skin for moisturization. It was so refreshing and yummy. I felt like Cleopatra in ancient times enjoying some royal treatment! Yustina was very patient and attentive. At each step of the procedure, she would inform me what she was applying to my body and the benefits it would bring me. She then wrapped me in a plastic sheet and electric blanket. All wrapped up, she proceeded to give me a hair and head massage with coconut oil. Unfortunately, the head massage was haphazard and random that any shampoo girl in a decent salon can give a better head massage. Nevertheless, cocooned in comfortable warmth, I drifted off to sleep. After 20 mins of moisturization from the yogurt and improved blood circulation and muscle relaxation from the warmth of the electric blanket, Yustina woke me up and I proceeded to wash all the salt scrub and yoghurt off in the bubble and floral bath Yustina had prepared for me. While in the bath, I was served cold orange juice—-a nice touch to help me wake up from my nap. After soaking in the warm tub for 20 mins, I was thoroughly relaxed. A quick shower helped to get completely clean. Then came the main event of the spa treatment—–the Balinese massage. Yustina really excelled in this. She placed great emphasis on the areas that carry the most tension and need the most attention—–the lower back, the upper back, in between the shoulder blades, shoulders, neck. What was most satisfying was that she used her thumbs to press into my flesh and then glide up and down the spine. It is painful for the therapist but hugely satisfying for the customer. While I was lying face-up, Yustina placed a chilled eye-mask on me. It was hugely relaxing and I was glad they paid attention to small details. I rarely experience chilled eye masks; they are usually room temperature. I slept, slept and slept. Towards the end of the treatment, Yustina gave me a face massage, which was not very good. It was not skilled and she was unsure of what she was doing, a clear sign of lack of training. Worse, the cream or oil she used on my face quickly dried up but she carried on massage my face, pulling and dragging delicate facial skin the process. Finally, she applied Esse Rich Moisturiser on my face. Esse is an organic skin care range and the excellent penetrative qualities of the moisturiser allows it to treat from below the surface. I emerged from my spa treatment rejuvenated and ready to plunge into shopping at the Pavilion!
http://travelrestauranthotel.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/20131111-Sompoton-Spa-Kuala-Lumpur_00002_tn-300x199.jpg"}
