7Dish Cafe is a “cafe-in-a-garden” located at Sutera Mall.
Note: please don’t be like me and run around inside the mall; you will never find the cafe. The cafe is located right beside the main entrance (taxi stand) of the mall.
The cafe is beautifully styled. Besides lots of leafy greens, there is lots of decoration, mainly in neutral browns. The look is harmonious and casual chic.
Breakfast Anyways (5 items – RM$24.90; 6 items – RM$26.90; 7 items – RM$28.90)
Chicken ham, beef bacon, smoked salmon, grilled tomato, sauteed mushroom, baked beans, sour dough, croissant, butter toast, chicken sausage, breakfast sausage, jumbo beef sausage, sweet corn kernel, spicy roasted potato, hashbrown, poached egg, sunny side, scrambled egg.
One of their big sellers here is Breakfast Anyways. You can mix and match and DIY your own breakfast from the above items.
Also, this is probably the first time I have seen a real, decent croissant in Johor Bahru outside of 5-star hotels.
Organic Egg Benedict RM$23
Poached egg, smoked turkey ham/ smoked salmon, baby spinach, creamy hollandaise sauce, fluffy brioche bun and spicy roasted potato.
The Eggs Benedict are delicious. The runniness of the eggs, the spinach and the buttered toast all blend harmoniously.
Salmon Scramble Sandwich RM$18
Creamy scrambled egg, smoked salmon, sliced cheese, caramelised onion & mixed green.
The smoked salmon is of decent quality. I was quite surprised to see smoked salmon (decent quality, no less) in a cafe. This is quite rare in Johor Bahru. Both the smoked salmon sandwich and scrambled egg sandwich are delicious.
Tiramisu Souffle Pancake RM$21
Served with mascarpone cheese, coffee and coco powder
Souffle pancake is 7Dish’s unique signature dish; you can’t find this anywhere else. The souffle pancake certainly was light and fluffy.
Fruit Salad Souffle Pancake RM$21
Served with fresh strawberry, berry, banana, whipped cream and maple syrup.
The acidity of the fruit was an excellent balance to the sweetness of the pancakes and maple syrup.
Overall, under the careful supervision of owner Mr Kenny, the ingredients used were of good quality and the dishes were executed with care and with good direction. They have also made incredible effort in styling the cafe and that made the cafe a very pleasant environment to dine in.
