Bunga Emas, Kuala Lumpur

When I think of Kuala Lumpur, I think of high-rise buildings and the comforts of a flashy and familiar city lifestyle. When I crave for authentic and traditional Malay cuisine, I wonder if I should take a quick trip to the rural parts of Ipoh or Malacca to experience the essence of local cuisine that is so uniquely Malaysian. Hoping to find a dining experience that would offer me the best of both worlds: the comforts of fine-dining and authentic Malay food, I chanced upon Bunga Emas in Kuala Lumpur, which not only provides me the satisfaction of fine-dining at a five-star hotel, but is more faithful to regal Malay dining traditions than I have ever experienced.

On my visit to the restaurant, I witnessed guests being enthralled by original culinary creations while being served in Malay hidangan style. I could tell that only the finest, freshest handpicked ingredients went into the meticulous preparation of the tantalising appetisers, delicious mains, and sweet aromatic desserts that I got to sample.

To add to my pleasant and memorable dining experience, I was captivated by the hostess in a pretty kebaya who welcomed me into Bunga Emas and the warm smiles of the staff who were always present to serve and eager to keep their guests happy. Even before I entered the restaurant, I could catch a whiff of the aroma of rich Malay herbs and spices that, to me, signalled the quality and the care that went into the preparation of the dishes. From that point on, it was hard to resist the enticement of these fragrances that lured me into a feast of classic and contemporary concoctions, infused with time-honoured Malay culinary traditions.

To enhance my appreciation for the food, I was amazed at the crystal chandeliers, lush interiors, and the live pianist who, along with the soothing sounds of flowing water, added  aural and visual dimensions to my dining experience, engaging all of my senses. But of course, if, unlike me, you prefer to share your special day with only your nearest and dearest, the venue offers terrace-like sections for private dining too! I personally would love to be thrown a birthday party in one of the three private rooms where the noble Malay dining traditions are still offered, but in a more intimate setting.

Did I forget to mention that apart from the three rooms, Bunga Emas comes with two Bilik Bersila that allow you to enjoy your meal in true splendour, while seated cross-legged on plush seat cushions? With enough capacity to entertain a hundred guests at a time, the restaurant serves as an ideal venue for businesses and individuals looking to make your clients and loved ones feel extra special while dining in the comforts of an exclusive yet traditional Malay environment. 10/10 worth repeated visits, if you ask me!
