Kata Beach, Phuket

Best known for its amazing scenery compared to other beaches in Phuket, Kata Beach will wash your troubles away with its clear blue waters and soft white sand.

Unlike certain regions in Thailand, Kata is an all-round favourite with families and couples due to its family-oriented resorts and moderate nightlife scene. The beach is loosely divided into two regions: Kata Centre and Kata South. The north end of the beach is known as Kata Centre, which as the name implies resembles a town centre with stores and luxury fashion brand outlets. A huge tourist attraction is the numerous souvenir stalls manned by locals that sells the most intricate, hand designed prints and gifts. These artistically designed items are unique to Thailand and make the perfect gifts to bring back to delight colleagues and friends.

If you’re looking to have fun in the water, Kata South has ample choices: snorkelling, surfing, diving and many more water sport activities organized by the resorts along the beach. Plan for a getaway in between May till October as surfers and tourist alike flock to catch Kata’s waves during this peak period. Alternatively if you enjoy basking in the sun and secretly have always wanted to get your tan on, come to Kata Beach during the month of November to April where rainfall is low and the sun is always shining.

For food options, you will be always spoilt for choice with cheap, delicious local food around the area. Street food stalls and restaurants line up the beach of Kata.  Can’t decide between trying out that local famous Pad Thai stall or dining at that award-winning restaurant at the hotel? Why not have both? Kata Beach is the affordable slice of food paradise for you and your family without breaking the bank.
