Lime Thai, Johor Bahru

Lime Thai is a brand new Thai restaurant in the brand new mall, Capital City.  It is easy to find.  It is located in the ground floor,  right next to KFC.  I like the ambience — simple,  no frills and very brightly lit.

Thai Iced Tea

Very milky with moderately strong tea flavour, just as Thai Iced Tea should be.  They have provided additional sugar syrup on the side so you can control the level of sweetness yourself.  Freedom to the customer is always a good thing.

Phad Thai With Prawns RM$13.90

This might the most aromatic Phad Thai I have encountered.  The wok aroma and the aroma of the peanuts hit me immediately they set it down on my table.  Have you noticed the gigantic tiger prawn on top?  None of those wishy-washy shrimp here.

Thai Fish Cake “Tod Mun Pla” RM$13.90

The portion is huge.  The fish cake tastes very homemade.  The texture inside consists entirely of shredded fish meat unlike commercial processed fish cake where it has been beaten into a sticky pulp.

Pandan Leaf Chicken “Gai Hor Bai” (4 pcs) RM$15.90

This might be the best Pandan Leaf Chicken I have ever tasted.  The others were perhaps sloppily marinated with salt and pepper; this one has a strong flavour and aroma from spices.  It was absolutely delicious.

They told me this is one of their signature dishes.  I can see why.  Firstly,  when they bring serve an entire fish,  it is an impressive sight.  Secondly,  the fish was free of stink.  Thirdly,  the fish was fries very well— golden and  crispy outside; white and moist inside.  The sweet and sour sauce was decent– nothing wrong there.  I liked that they had plenty of garnishing which add interest to the texture.

Green Curry Prawns RM$16.90

The curry is creamy and decent and contains 2 huge Tiger prawns.

Mango Sticky Rice RM$9.90

They have added mung beans to the rice.  I like this attention to detail.  I also like that the mangoes are not that ripe so they are firm and a little sour.  The sourness refreshes me after a satisfying meal,  just as a good dessert should.
