At Last! Private Dining Booths @ Ontama Don, Singapore

I have been waiting a looooooong time for a restaurant like Ontama Don.  As a tourist in Japan, I would go to ramen shops with booths.  I would sit inside and enjoy a very simple bowl of ramen.  Nobody bothers me; I bother nobody.

I never understood why there are no such restaurants (with individual booths) in Singapore.  I have never met such a restaurant in Singapore….until now.

Ontama Don is only a couple of months old.  There are booths for quiet, individual eating, although the partitions can also be removed if you dine with a friend.  There is also a big communal table at the un-airconditioned patio area.

Matsu Zen $38

Salmon, salmon belly, hamachi, hotate, megajiki, Maguire (3 pieces each)

The fish is rea….lly thick.  There is nothing quite as satisfying as sashimi.  The hotate was really sweet.  The salmon and salmon belly were great too!

Bara Chirashi Don $24

Salmon, salmon belly, magiri, hamachi, megajiki, tako, hitate, tamagoyaki, ikura

Light and healthy.  Firm fish against chewy rice –- a delicious combination.

Nigiri Platter $22

Salmon, maguro, hamachi, megajiki, hotate, tamago, ikura (1 piece each)

Absolutely delicious.  There is nothing to pick on.

Tempura Mori $15

Crispy.  I love the various types of vegetables — sweet potato, eggplant, capsicum, enoki mushroom.
