Pita Tree Mediterranean Kitchen & Bar, Singapore

Pita Tree is a gem right in the heart of Singapore’s financial district (Raffles Place) and that is not a secret.  It seems all the office workers working in that area know what a great find Pita Tree is.  During lunch time on weekdays,  the restaurant gets very crowded and busy.  Though they have great value set lunches (see below),  almost everyone seems to know what wonderful cuisine Pita Tree serves up and orders a la carte.

The restaurant positions itself as Mediterranean but it is actually more Middle Eastern.  The restaurant is modern and very clean.  The kitchen is very open and clean.   You can see an Egyptian Chef preparing your dishes so you are assured of the authenticity of the cuisine.

Kibbeh $12

Bulgor patties stuffed with minced lamb and pine nuts

This is quite moist and definitely nutty.

Vegetarian Kibbeh $10

Vegetarian patties stuffed with vegetables & beans

Falafel $9

Chickpeas cutlets fried and served with Tahina or garlic yoghurt sauce

Arayes $12

Flat Lebanese bread stuffed with lamb or chicken minced meat and served with garlic yoghurt sauce

The stuffed bread was ok on its own. The garlic yoghurt sauce was delicious!  It has a zing (thanks to the garlic) but it is moderated by the milk solids of the yoghurt.

Saffron BBQ Wings $10

Selected chicken mid wings marinated with saffron, fresh lemon juice, and Persian herbs

They arrived in a wonderful cloud of aroma.  The spices and meaty smell and chargrill smell and the acidity of the lemon juice is a wonderful mixture and certainly whets your appetite.  These are the most beautiful chicken wings I have ever  seen.  Golden with beautiful char marks;  moist and glistening with juicy on the inside.

Chen Jeh Beef $29

300GM Premium Australian beef tenderloin cut into cubes, marinated with saffron & special herbs and grilled

The beef was very tender.  The grilled vegetables looked and tasted great!  They tasted so light and healthy.

If you prefer a free-and easy, buffet style experience, the lunch buffet ($17) is for you! You can enjoy  all-you-can-eat salad and dips, soup and dessert of the day, pita bread, vegetable and meat stews. For an additional $10, you can enjoy one lamb/ chicken/ fish skewer.

If you prefer something light, the $11 salad set will get you one fill of any salad from the buffet counter. Top up $3 for a serving of chicken, beef, fish, or falafel.
