Escargots (6 pcs) S$10.90
Herb garlic butter and tomato, served with rustic French baguette.
It certainly was herb-y and garlicky. Eaten with the French baguette, it was delicious!
Truffle Foie Gras S$13.90
Truffle oil, creamy lentil
This one was out of this world! Firstly, it just smelled royal thanks to the truffle oil. Then the inimitable taste of the foie gras harmonises with the creaminess of the of the lentil. The creaminess of the of the lentil in turn contrasts nicely against the crunch of the baguette. So many interesting things going on in this little plate and they all work! Genius!
French Onion Soup S$7.90
Sweet and cheesy. Nothing wrong here. It is satisfying.
Chilli Crab Squid Ink Pasta S$18.90
Buttered crab meat, squid ink pasta, spicy chilly crab sauce, poached egg
Another fantastic dish! The sweetness and mild spiciness were tied in by the umami of the egg yolk. The chopped scallions add zest and lift the whole dish. The texture was an interesting symphony as well— you have the sauce, the egg yolk, the al dente spaghetti, the crunchy spaghetti. The colours red and green really stood out against neutral black. Whether it’s taste, texture or colour, this dish scored really high marks.
Signature Duck Confit S$18.90
Mashed potato, sauteed mushrooms, orange segment, natural juice.
It was exactly as it should — very crispy on the outside, juicy inside. I like the authenticity and how they didn’t neglect details—- notice the orange?
This is not an expensive restaurant. I didn’t expect the food to be this good but it exceeded my expectations.
