Cassis, Jakarta Nov 2014

Cassis is a French restaurant that has been around for a number of years in Jakarta. Situated near the CBD just across from the Inter-Continental Hotel, it provides a semi-fine dining experience with a focus on quality.

The restaurant boasts a stylish and elegant ambiance with a comfortable atmosphere and warm interior combined with beautiful lighting which provides a relaxing and sophisticated environment with a romantic setting.

The ingredients are flown in a few times a week to retain the authenticity of dishes, the staff speaks fluent English to cater to discerning guests, and everything on the plate is prepared by Chef Jerome Laurent – former chef of a One Michelin Star restaurant in France.

Cassis will please your taste buds with its tempting appetizers, well-known classical dishes from the French haute cuisine, signature dishes, Chef’s “Cuisine Creative”, and decadent dessert selections.

Grand Hyatt Bali is a luxury resort located in Nusa Dua, Bali. The resort offers 636 luxury rooms and suites nested in low-rise Balinese villas. The rooms and suites are located in 4 villages, spread over a sprawling estate filled with lakes, beautiful landscaped gardens and low-rise Balinese style buildings accompanied by five lagoon or river pools.

Grand Hyatt Bali offers a variety of accommodation options including Grand Suites, Grand Executive Suites, Ambassador Suites, Presidential Suites, and Deluxe Villas. Staying here feels like every need is met. There is a huge variety of dining options here; I feel like I will never get tired of dining here.

Salsa Verde is a poolside Italian restaurant overlooking the azur Indian Ocean. Here, diners may savour a lively selection of antipasti, pizzas and seafood in a tropical poolside setting.

Every night, Pasar Senggol comes alive with a night market and a cultural performance which changes nightly. There is a variety of buffet items including grilled seafood and meat and sate.

Garden Café is the all-day dining restaurant featuring a variety of Asian and Western dishes.

Nampu offers excellent Japanese cuisine with a variety of seating options such as a teppanyaki section and a sushi bar.

Salsa Verde Bar is a rooftop bar with panoramic views of the sea. It is fantastic to sit here in the late afternoon and enjoy the sea breeze over a glass of sparkling wine.

The highlight of Grand Hyatt Bali has to be Kriya Spa. Designed as an exotic 24-villa water palace amid tropical gardens, each villa features an outdoor tub, a plunge pool, outdoor treatment table and an outdoor lounge where guests can relax.

Alternatively, you can also choose to enjoy your treatment indoors. The treatment rooms are clean. With each villa being self-contained and complete in facilities, absolute privacy is assured.

The massages are deep and thorough and I quickly fell asleep as my knots were loosened.

Turkuaz is a colourful Turkish restaurant located slightly south of the city centre.

Wood oven baked Spinach and Turkish white cheese in phyllos
The spinach-filled phyllos is warm and creamy. The hummus is warm. The bread is warm. In other words, they have bothered to pay attention to details.

Mezze Platter (for 2 persons)
Consists of Zeytinyagli Humus, Babaganuc, Gavurdagi Salatasi, Ispanakli Peynirli Borek and bread

Karides Kebab
Char grilled marinated king prawns served with Burgul Pilav
A thick, firm white prawn thoroughly grilled and excellently paired with salad made up of sliced raw shallots and chopped raw tomatoes. The warmth of the prawn and the coldness of the salad balance each other out. The raw salad refreshes the palette. Comes also with couscous.

Patlicanli Kuzu Incik Kebabi
Olive oil fried aubergines in home dried thyme with Sehriyeli Pilav

This is the chef’s signature lamb shank dish. The original recipe hails from the chef’s village. The lamb is baked overnight in a wood oven with home dried herbs and spices. Despite being a signature dish, it is a little bland. It is basically a huge chunk of meat with gravy and eggplant. Neither the gravy nor the eggplant is very flavourful.

They also have a baklava house selling freshly and authentically made Turkish baklava by a Turkish chef.
