89 Kilos Cake Bar, Johor Bahru

89 Kilos Cake Bar is a new quality establishment set up by chef-entrepreneur Frank.

As the name suggests, this is a cake bar.  This means that 89 Kilos sells unique, quality creations that are made artisanally and available only in exclusive quantities.

Walking in,  the cafe is very clean and immediately,  there is a palpable warm, welcoming feel to the place.  There are many homely nooks and crannies that just invite to sit down, curl up and take life easy.

At the centre of the cafe is a visually arresting display of all the confections Chef Frank has created.  The entire display looks so ridiculously delicious that I feel like gobbling up the entire thing.

Cappuccino RM$10.90

Very aromatic.

Nasi Lemak Cheesecake RM$16.90

Chef Frank’s proudest creation.  Established since 2015!  Malaysia’s first Nasi Lemak cake!

An original creation of Chef Frank— it combines the flavours of beloved Malaysian dish, Nasi Lemak, into one creamy cheese cake.  You can taste the Nasi Lemak peanuts in the cream cheese, the ikan bilis and sambal chilli in the layer in top.  A most interesting creation.

Victoria Sponge RM$14.90

A beautiful cake.  It is light and the best part,  it is only mildly sweet.   It is not overly, sickeningly sweet.

Big Cookie RM$4.90

This chocolate cookie reminds me of the cookies they give you when you check in at Doubletree by Hilton hotels.  I miss the Doubletree cookies and I like this one too.

Pistachio Rose RM$14.90

My favourite of the cakes I tried.  It has a fine, nutty flavour and the light rose scent was so elegant and lovely.
