Kwan Cheuk Heen, Hong Kong

Kwan Cheuk Heen is a beautiful restaurant with a high ceiling, floor-to-ceiling windows and an arresting red décor.  The gorgeous panoramic windows overlook the pool.

Roasted suckling’s pig and sliced chicken liver

This is a traditional dish from when there was not a lot of food, so they ate chicken liver.  This dish is also one of the hotel owner’s favourite dishes.

Braised mixed shredded snake meat soup with chrysanthemum

This is a delicacy. One feels hotter (not sexier, I mean you feel like your body temperature has raised) after you have consumed the soup.  The savoury broth is complemented by the light fragrance of chrysanthemum.

Baked crab shell stuffed with crab meat and black truffle paste

Rich and savoury.

Fried little yellow croaker fish with salt and chili pepper

Crispy on the outside but not oily at all.

Sautéed fresh scallops with crab meat and egg white

Light and satisfying

Chilled sweetened sago cream in whole guava

I have had honeydew sago cream before.   This is my first time trying guava sago cream.  Guava sago cream trumps honeydew sago cream by about a hundred times.

Homemade black sesame rolls

I really like this one.  You can taste the burnt sesame in it, which makes it very authentic.

It is so nice to appreciate quality cuisine in such an opulent decor.
