Paella Spanish, Johor Bahru

Paella Spanish is a month-old restaurant dedicated to Spanish cuisine located in the bustling neighborhood of Tun Aminah.

Paella Spanish is the latest entrepreneurial endeavour of Chef Thomas, who has experience working for Grand Hyatt Singapore and Din Tai Feng.

The decor is colourful and clearly communicates which cuisine you will soon be enjoying.

Weight Watchers Tapas RM$9.90

Light and refreshing.  This is an excellent option for a starter.

Clams Lombardi RM$19.90

Thick stock clam with white wine

This was unbelievable! The soup at the bottom of the plate was so intense and rich with the flavour of seafood.

Gambas al Ajillo or Garlic Prawn RM$19.90

Classic Spanish Tapas

Light and stimulating, an ice-cold glass of Chardonnay or Riesling would have been the perfect accompaniment.

Sopa De Mariscos RM$12.90

Clear soup with fresh prawns and clams

Finally, quality Western style seafood soup.

Paella De Mariscos (served in a pan) RM$49.90 (2 person) RM$89.90 (4 person)

Traditional seafood paella with fresh prawn, clams, squid, tomato, pimento, green pepper, hot paprika and white wine.

Imagine firm, individuated grains completely taken up by the flavour of seafood.  Each mouthful was moist and flavourful.  Heavenly!

Grain Fed Ribeye RM$59.90

Grilled Ribeye with brown sauce

The mashed potato was house-made and it shows.  It has a discernible potato-ey flavour and it was delicious.

Chocoflan Impossible Cake RM$15.90

Dense rich chocolate cake stacked with flan topped with caramel sauce

This was not too sweet and the perfect rounding off of my meal.

Overall,  this is a solid dining experience.
