Slim’s, Hangzhou

Long associated with the Western world, the steak would have been a raw newcomer to the Chinese food scene in the 90s.    It cannot have been an easy entry into the competitive world of Chinese cuisine – already a world-renowned leader in gastronomy.

Chef Adam Levin obviously believed that his steaks would make a difference when he opened the Aria Restaurant in Beijing at China World Hotel in 1998.   He brought his own brand of style and expertise in steaks and seafood to an already burgeoning culinary scene in China.  Like new boys to an elite school, his cuisine had something to prove to the established regime that they were worth noticing.

Notice him they certainly did.  Having expanded to Hong Kong, his restaurant achieved the fame it deserved when in 2001, Tatler Magazine included it in their list of best restaurants.  A commendable achievement indeed when his first foray into Chinese food scene was a mere 3 years before that.

By now, Chef Adam was recognized as the beef expert for US Meat Federation and the USDA.  That made him, naturally, a connoisseur of meat and he was invited to travel all over China and other parts of Asia to impart his knowledge on the subject of cooking a great steak.  It certainly didn’t hurt his reputation when in 2008, Chef Adam’s steakhouse in Hong Kong was listed in the Top 10 Best New Restaurants, a testimony to his unparalleled steak-cooking skills.

Chef Adam’s award winning New York Steak & Burger was launched in Shanghai in 2010 followed by his unique and highly acclaimed restaurant Shanghai Slim’s the following year.  The success of both these restaurants in a society that largely prefers its own cuisine is a demonstration of Chef Adam’s superior cooking techniques and inimitable touch when it comes to flavor and seasoning.

Chef Adam, fondly nicknamed “The Big Potato” by his legion of followers, now intends to spread the magic and unbeatable taste of his burgers combined with their competitive prices to the whole of China in the near future.  There is little doubt that Chef Adam’s burgers will enjoy a long and prosperous life in the Land of the Red Dragon!

Burgers

Burgers should be more than slabs of tasteless meat between dry buns.  If done right, they can and should make your tongue leap with delight at the mere taste.

All of Slim’s burgers are half a pound of 100% pure, freshly ground imported meat, consisting of Angus beef brisket and chuck.  One bite and you will feel the meat caress your mouth, filling it with the highest quality beef that you could possibly find anywhere.

These burgers are so expressive, they will speak for themselves!   The smell and taste will transport you to whole different level of pleasure, evoking images of misty-eyed Hereford cows grazing contentedly in a field of clover.

Seasoned only with sea salt and black pepper and grilled to order, our burgers are the healthiest served anywhere.

Topping off this epicurean delight, is a serving of crispy, mouth-watering order of French fries.
