Sports Warehouse, Thamrin City, Jakarta

Housed on Level 2 of the labyrinthine Thamrin City, this place offers really cheap sporting goods.  The goods are from seasons past but they are really, really cheap.  Some sneakers are for sale at IDR150,000 (SGD$19).  I saw a Puma wind breaker that is perhaps 1 to 1.5 years selling for IDR200,000 (SGD$26).  

The problem with this place is that, as the name “Warehouse” implies, these are leftover stock and hence, you may not necessarily find the size you want.  The place is also quite dilapidated (just like the rest of Thamrin City) and when I visited the place, it seems they were closing down or closing for renovation or something.   Some parts of the shop were condoned off.  There were very few people there.

To get to this shop, imagine Thamrin City as a long rectangle.  You need to get to the Central Lobby which is at the middle of the building, then ride the escalator up to Level 2. 

The rest of Thamrin City are small shops selling very unfashionable clothing.  There is also a Gold’s Gym in Thamrin City.  Thamrin City is close to Kempinski Hotel Jakarta which is linked to a gleaming, modern MEGA-mall.
