Taipa Village, Macau

Call it a well-deserved break from the city life, it’s time for everyone to pack your bags, leave the cacophony of the city behind and head to Taipa Village. While walking in Taipa Village, the village’s rustic charm is undeniable, so much so that it feels like I’m travelling back several years in time. Cotai strip (casino central) nearby further accentuates the vintage aura the village exudes.

Though finding places that have barely changed over the past few decades is like searching for a needle in a haystack, this unchanging village certainly brings back memories of my childhood. Mesmerising alleyways greeted me along my walk through Taipa Village; densely dotted with senescent walk-up residential homes, traditional Chinese shops, ravishing pastel villas in a plethora of colours, stunning churches, ancient temples, bountiful restaurants and snack street abuzz with activity.

How to get there:

Rua do Cunha in Taipa Village, bus routes from downtown Macau (around Lisboa, Grand Lisboa, Wynn, San Ma Lo): 11, 22, 26a, 33. If you are staying at Galaxy, Venetian or City Of Dreams, a short and easy 15 minutes to the Village is all you need.
