Thann Sanctuary, Bangkok
THANN Sanctuary, voted one of the Top 55 spas in the world by Conde Nast Traveller Magazine, never fails to make one feel relaxed and at home. It is unique from other spas in Bangkok.
Here, the only sound that can be heard is that of running water, very similar to a forest stream. The place is also dimly lit. The lobby and treatment rooms have no screens, LEDS or fluorescents. Instead, soothing shades of greys and browns are used. The walls and floors are made out of slate stone and the furniture is made of wood. This has a calm and tranquilising effect on its customers.
The therapists at THANN are trained in aromatherapy, anatomy studies and massage techniques. Upon our visit at the place, we had the pleasure of being treated by two Thai therapists. Their massage techniques simply leave one in awe. Both were very well-versed with the job and very good with their hands. They must have attended special training schools. The quietness in the room was also maintained to help customers relax.
Treatment rooms even have their own private bathrooms and shower rooms, allowing one to truly enjoy a blissful time alone with no outside distractions.
The essential oil blends at THANN sanctuary are created by the staff themselves. Customers get to choose one for their treatment. We decided to pick Stimulating and Clarifying. The former is a blend of peppermint, thyme, eucalyptus and rosemary, while the latter is a distinct Thai mix of lemongrass and kaffir lime. The oils were rich in scent and no synthetics were found in them. Once we were done with our treatments and had taken a relaxing shower, the staff greeted us at the lobby with freshly cut cantaloupe and warm ginger tea. They even have their own line of body products, face care, hair care and fragrances. Their collections are aptly written and the packaging is very attractive. Their products can definitely be purchased as a gift. We highly recommend the Aromatic Wood and the Rice Collection.
