Tokidon, Singapore
Office workers working in Raffles Place rejoice! Affordable luxury has arrived in the form of Tokidon. All hail our saviour!
The restaurant is easy to find. Tokidon is located in one corner of Hong Leong Building basement food street, right next to an entrance.
Tokidon offers delicious, mouth-watering beef bowls and uses Grade 6 Wagyu slices and Grade 9 Sukiyaki Wagyu for their beef bowls.
Wagyu Sukiyaki Don S$17.90 (+ Foie gras S$28.90)
Sliced wagyu short plate, onsen egg, shimeiji mushrooms, sauteed onions, house blend sukiyaki sauce
OMG! Imagine the richness of foie gras, the meatiness of tender wagyu with just the right amount of fat, all tied in together by the umami of the runny golden egg yolk. It really was luxury in a bowl.
Truffle Wagyu Don S$23.90 (+ Ikura Shoyuzuke S$27.90)
Wagyu striploin, onsen egg, cured kelp, house blend truffle soy
The aroma of truffle already was luxuriously heavenly! Add to that satisfying beef (wagyu no less) with the right amount of fat in them. And then in each mouthful, you have the salmon roe bursting, releasing savoury and umami. A deadly, intoxicating cocktail of luxurious flavours.
In addition, for an additional S$4.90, you can complete your meal with a canned drink and a Wagyu Suji Miso Soup or Spicy Corn Cup.
Alternatively, you may wish to enjoy other scrumptious sides such as Foie Gras, Ikura Shoyuzuke, Japanese Omelette and Ebi Fried Skewer with Mentaiko Sauce.
There’s also room to DIY too—- across all bowls, customers can also swap their rice for free and choose instead between cha soba or salad.
Still, all of the above is nothing compare to this— they have SAKE! Now my life is complete.
Overall, Tokidon provides excellent value and is a welcomed addition to the competitive Singapore dining scene.
