Lanna Spa (housed in Krabi La Playa Resort), Krabi

I also visited Lanna Spa which is diagonally opposite my hotel. I requested for a 60 min oil massage (450B, through they gave a 10% discount when it was time to pay).

Brutally frank:

When requested “strong, strong”, the female therapist initially exerted harder but then eventually went back to soft, smooth strokes, way too soft for my liking. I felt like I was being felt up instead of being massaged.

I have sensitive skin so I gave her a bottle of castor oil to use on me instead of the synthetic oils common at spas.  She used a little bit and when back to the synthetic oil, presumably because the castor oil provides more friction and she has to use more force. I had to raise my head and she held her bottle of synthetic oil and asked me, “OK?”  I thought, No!!!  I already told you!  I didn’t show any emotion, said ‘no” and made the scratching action.  Still, she continued using the synthetic oil (castor oil has a distinctive texture and smell, if you know what I mean).  Only when I turned on my back (stomach up), she cleverly started using the castor oil.

Dishonest therapist, lacklustre massage.

I was all smiles when paying.  They gave a 10% discount but I will never be back.
