Birdfolks, Singapore

Birdfolks is an independent fried chicken joint in NEWest.

The environment is quite Instagrammable,  with a bench adorned by plastic vines and roses at the front.

Try their Signature Chicken Rice S$9.90.  Before frying,  all their chicken undergo brining—- the chicken is soaked in salt water solution for 12 hours before. In the process,  the chicken absorbs the brine as well as Asian spices in the solution.  The result is exactly as it claims—  the chicken has a mild saltiness and a whiff of Chinese Five Spice. When my plate arrived,  the aroma was just undeniable.

You know that the rice of ordinary chicken rice is stir-fried in garlic and ghee before being cooked together with Pandan leaves?  This garlic butter rice is similar except that the garlic flavour and aroma are stronger,  is less oily and you get the taste of butter instead of ghee.

The Lychee Tea S$3.80 is as it says——- lychee in tea.

In fact, all the items tried are as they claim.  🙂
