Cafe 5, Kuala Lumpur

Located within a light industrial neighbourhood and just a stone’s throw away from Pudu LRT, Cafe 5 offers artisanal excellence in Belgian Liege waffles.

Owner Mr Trent personally oversees all waffle orders and each order is expertly prepared by him.  His hands-on approach ensures each meticulous detail meets his exacting standards—– the very true version of the artisanal spirit.

Mr Trent also mixes his entrepreneurial spirit, artisanal dedication with a innovative creativity.  Besides artisanal waffles, Cafe 5 also offers most innovative drinks.  An example is the Chocha Latte (RM$14) which is a mixture of Chocolate and Matcha Latte.

An everyday staple in the lives of Europeans, waffles can be sweet or savoury.  Cafe 5’s signature Murakami waffles sees Belgian Liege waffles topped with flamed takoyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, Japanese spices and bonito flakes.

Willy Wonka is a hit with customers here.  I personally call it “Fondue at a cafe” or “Lovers’ Plate”.  I thought it was quite a good deal for money you can enjoy fondue in a down-to-earth cafe.  Lovers might enjoy feeding marshmallows or strawberries to each other.

Cafe 5’s artisanal spirit extends to their ice-cream.  They make their own ice-cream in-house.  Be sure to try such unique and popular flavours such as D-24 Durian, Salted Egg Yolk with Curry Leaves and Hojicha with Shredded Dark Chocolate.  The Holicha flavour is a lovely muted green colour and the D-24 Durian is enticingly rich.

Why not finish off with a cuppa of piping hot Piccolo Latte?

Besides delicious coffee and an innovative menu, the peaceful, zen ambience is a real winner here.
