Coloane, Macau

Can’t imagine Macau beyond the casinos? It exists, believe it!

Coloane

Macau’s version of a village, this coastal gem is just a short drive from the city centre. Coloane is a nostalgia-fuelled place that has successfully preserved decades worth of peace and serenity.

What to do

The best way to soak up the old neighbourhood vibes of Coloane is by taking a stroll. Start from President’s Square (named in honour of Portugal’s 16th President, Antonio Ramalho Eanes). At the heart of the village you will find a bronze statue of Cupid.  From there, you can wander down narrow, cobbled alleys which you surprise you at every turn. It is no wonder that this quaint little village has been the setting of many television dramas.

What to eat

Coloane is a delightful haven of hearty and delicious treats. The many food carts there will offer you a charming taste of the village, from seafood nibbles to the renowned Portuguese egg tarts. These delicacies will be sure to boost not only your energy, but your spirits as well.
