Jones the Grocer (Dempsey), Singapore

Dempsey Hill used to be an area of British Army barracks.  Now, these buildings have been conserved and converted to bistros, food and beverage outlets.  Dempsey Hill is a popular dining enclave.

Among all the restaurants at Dempsey Hill is popular bistro Jones the Grocer.  Jones the Grocer is an Australian brand.  They offer air-conditioned indoor seating and alfresco dining.

Avocado & Pesto Scrambled Eggs (S$21)

Scrambled eggs, avocado, homemade pesto, roasted tomato, grana padano cheese on homemade brioche

Jones the Grocer makes their breads in-house.  The breads are delicious, including the brioche here.  The eggs are ample.

You can build your own cheese platter as you wish from a cheese and charcuterie selection.

Jones Wagyu Burger (S$28)

Bacon, cheddar, truffle mayo, bois bourdon sauce, pickles, yellow mustard, caramalised onions mesclun in a brioche bun

As mentioned, the breads are delicious.  The burger bun is no different.  The Wagyu patty was executed very well. Brown on the outside; red inside but without any blood dripping.

Homemade coconut flour pancakes (S$14)

Blueberry compote, fresh banana and whipped greek yoghurt

I highly recommend this.  The coconut flavour adds a exotic tropical feel to otherwise normal pancakes.

Warm sticky date pudding (S$15)

Salted caramel sauce & vanilla bean ice-cream

Rich and intense.  Best eaten with the ice-cream on top.
