A Dining Oasis at Biopolis @ Long Black Cafe, Singapore
I have never thought of Biopolis as a dining destination. I mean, do scientists know food?
If you ever happened to be stranded in Biopolis and you are in need of nosh, perhaps your best option might be Long Black Cafe.
Already established for 10 years, Long Black Cafe serves up excellent coffee in the morning before serving hot mains at 11am.
Virgin Mojito
Wow, it’s exactly like a mojito except that it is alcohol-free.
LB Special Beef Burger $13 90
Grilled homemade beef patty with caramelized onions, shiitake mushrooms and melted cheddar
The patty indeed feels like it’s homemade. It is fresh and has an agreeable looseness.
Salmon Miso Cream $13.90
Salmon in Japanese miso cream sauce
Perhaps this can be called “pasta lite”. Free from the heavy cream sauces of Western style pasta, the Asian slant comes through strongly and the sweetness of the onions complements the umami and savoury of the miso.
Truffle Cream Chicken $13.90
Chicken and mushrooms in black truffle cream sauce
The pasta arrived in an intoxicating, irresistible cloud of truffle aroma.
Affogato $5.90
A scoop of vanilla ice-cream served with artisanal coffee espresso
The most remarkable find of the day. The medium dark coffee contrasts nicely with the elegant vanilla.
Tiramisu
Espresso drenched cake layers enhanced with a mouth-watering mascarpone cheese mousse, topped with a dusting of cocoa.
Unlike most cafes, they are extremely generous with the mascarpone.
How about a latte to round it off?
Most notably,. Long Black Cafe roasts, packages and sells their own drip coffee called Notal Coffee. The coffee is said to have notes of chocolate and fruit.
