Satoo, Shangri-la, Jakarta

Satoo means “one” or “first” in Indonesian. This restaurant offers a very wide-ranging buffet lunch.

Some stand-outs:

Fresh seafood (tiger prawns!!! Clams!!!—I am huge on shell fish, not so huge on crustaceans).

Sashimi!!!

Peking duck!!!!  I love Peking duck!  Peking duck in a buffet???!!!!  We have a winner!

This place is popular with the locals.  The white collar professionals come in during their lunch hour and the place is almost fully seated.  As the saying goes, “Eat where the locals eat.”  How wrong can you go?

There are also other themed corners to this buffet eg. Asian noodles, Pasta (pasta freshly cooked on the spot for you), Asian Roast (roast chicken, roast duck), Indian,

Indonesian,

Western Roast.

The dessert selection (with its western and Indonesian sweets) is huge and oh-so-tempting.

It seems Satoo has a theme every month.  When I was there, they had a local Indonesian cuisine theme and Indonesian specialties were specially made available.
