Steakgrill, Singapore

Nestled within the peaceful neighbourhood is the one-month old American restaurant Steakgrill.

Steakgrill is helmed by Owner-head chef Edwin who also owns a sandwich shop in NTU.

Steakgrill prides itself in the freshest produce and dishes perfected through the owner’s rigorous trial and error.  Make no mistake, almost everything on your plate is made from scratch.

Home Cured Bacon Thicks $7

Thick cut belly strips that has been cured for days, smoked and then grilled

Cured, smoked and finally grilled to melt the fat,  this is the perfect tapas to pair with alcohol and get the night going.  The meat has a wonderful crust and an intoxicating balance between the sweet and savoury.

Truffle Fries $8

Crispy fries, tossed in truffle oil and topped with shaved parmesan

I’m so glad Steakgrill brought luxury truffle into a humble neighborhood and made it accessible to all.

Ribeye 250g $19.50

All time favourite with a good balance of fat and lean

Indeed, the meat’s balance between leanness and fat was perfect.  It was beautifully grilled and I love Chef Edwin’s attention to detail—- he got the medium rare doneness just right.

St Louis Ribs 1/3 $14

Applewood smoked ribs served with in-house BBQ sauce (20 mins)

It was so flavourful and the portion was so substantial. Most ribs elsewhere are mainly bones and little meat.  The reverse is true here.

Fish and Shrimps $15.50

Snapper battered and fried, served with tartar sauce

Not greasy which is what I fear with most fish and chips.  Inside the crispy batter is delicious, firm, moist white fish.  The fish feels very fresh.  I am impressed with the quality of the produce used here.

I can genuinely say that the cuisine served here beats Aston’s.  Take that Aston’s!
