Good Old Nostalgic Tradition @ True Blue Cuisine, Singapore (Michelin Bib Gourmand)

True Blue Cuisine is, well, a true blue Peranakan restaurant.

Started by Baba Benjamin Seck in 2003 in a pre-war shophouse in the Peranakan enclave of Katong, the restaurant aims to serve authentic Peranakan cuisine to Singapore and the world.  In 2008, True Blue Cuisine moved to its current premises on Armenian Street, right beside the Peranakan Museum.  Nevertheless, its unique charm, including its authentic Peranakan cuisine and Peranakan decor continues.

A highly acclaimed restaurant, True Blue Cuisine was awarded Best New Restaurant by Wine and Dine in 2004.  In 2007, Singapore Tatler picked True Blue as one of Singapore’s best Restaurants.  In 2016, True Blue Cuisine achieved international recognition when it was awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand.

Prawn Crackers $5

Crab and Chicken Meatballs Soup $12

Cabbage Stewed with Glass Vermicelli and Mushrooms $20

Beef Simmered in Coconut Sauce $25

Chicken Stewed with Black Nuts $30

All the dishes tried are authentic.  They are a great introduction to Peranakan culture.
