Beijing Kitchen promises authentic northern Chinese cuisines.

Beijing Kitchen is housed in the beautiful Grand Hyatt Macau.  Though 6 years old already, the restaurant does not look it at all.  The restaurant looks like it is only 3 years old. Dining here is a calm and serene experience.  The decor is various earthy shades complemented with the colours of natures: green and blue.  The white china plates are accentuated by show plates underneath them.  On arrival, diners are greeted by an eye-catching, floor-to-ceiling display of Chinese teapots and tea caddies.

Moving through the 225-seater space, guests discover four animated show kitchens: a dim sum and noodle area where fresh dumplings are steamed and noodles are hand-pulled; a duck roasting section equipped with two traditional jujube- wood and almond-wood fired ovens; a wok station where up to ten chefs create traditional Northern dishes at a time, plus an alluring dessert counter.  Guests can dine family-style in the atmospheric, modern-rustic dining space under a ceiling of suspended Chinese birdcages, or in one of five private dining rooms seating 8 to 10, one of which doubles as a wine room.

Tapping the extensive Hyatt network of properties throughout China, this Beijing Kitchen presents Chinese dishes from other Hyatt hotels in China.  In other words,  a visit to this Beijing Kitchen is a window to the culinary diversity of China.  Hugely popular with the locals, the menu changes every 6 months to surprise and draw back local diners.

Beijing Kitchen Signature Appetisers

This is a long favourite appetizer with diners.  Using vinegar as an ingredient, it whets the appetite for more.

This cold tofu appetizer is topped with finely chopped century egg. This is a recently introduced appetizer.  It is very light and refreshing.

Another recently introduced appetizer, the button mushrooms are accentuated with Chinese truffle.

Another cold appetizer, this comprises beef strands.

Traditional Peking Duck from Wood-fired Oven with Classic Condiments

Of my meal there, the standout was the Peking Duck.  Using chefs only from Beijing, authenticity is assured.  In addition, the ingredients, such as the skin and ducks, are also imported from Beijing to  ensure the most authentic experience for the palette.  The Peking Duck chefs are dedicated to only preparing the Peking Duck.  They do not prepare any other dish.  Such is the singular vision to deliver the most authentic sensation to satisfy the most discerning diner.  I was impressed. The chefs carve the duck in front of you.  This adds a compelling element of showmanship to the dining experience.

Braised Shrimps, Eggplant, Chilli, Bean

The shrimps are firm and fresh.  Very flavourful.

Seasonal Vegetables in  a Duck Bouillon

Light, pale, crunchy and flavorless, the white cabbage is elevated perfectly by the rich and lively yellow duck bouillabaisse. A simple but perfect balance of texture and flavour.

Crispy Mandarin Fish, Sweet and Sour Sauce

The chef has already removed the bones.  Thank god!  The flesh is white, clear in flavor and firm in texture.

Pan-fried Minced Pork Dumplings, Beijing White Cabbage, Yellow Chives

The  dumplings are presented with a lovely pattern.  Thanks to the copious vegetables in the dumplings, the dumplings are crunchy and are not sickeningly filling.

Beijing Kitchen Dessert Platter

Highly recommended is the lovely Iron Buddha tea to accompany your meal.  The tea is fragrant and a clear yellow.

The Peking duck is worth returning for again and again.  It is one of the most outstanding dishes I have tasted.

這幾道菜中,最令我眼睛一亮的,就屬北京烤鴨了。為了確保風味道地,餐廳特從北京䀻來大廚進駐。除此之外,無論餅皮或鴨隻本身,也都是由北京直送,以提供與北京無二的用餐感受。北京烤鴨大廚並不製作其他餐點。他們專注於製作最完美的烤鴨,來滿足饕客最挑剔的味蕾。令我驚豔的,還有大廚的桌邊片皮服務,是餐廳最吸睛的賣點。

蝦子肉質扎實而新鮮。非常美味!

香濃鴨湯燉時蔬

清爽鮮嫩的白菜本身沒有太多味道,但經過香濃黃澄的鴨湯的燉煮,將白菜的風味提高到了另一個層次。一道簡單但味覺與口感和諧的菜餚。

松鼠桂花魚

大廚已經移除魚骨啦,感謝老天爺!魚肉雪白,鮮甜而無腥味,且肉質扎實。

京式豬肉鍋貼,內餡包裹著剁碎的豬肉、北京大白菜及韭黃

上菜時,餃子排成可愛的隊形。由於內餡的蔬菜豐富,使得餃子帶有清脆而不軟爛的口感。

推薦您以美味的鐵觀音茶來佐餐。茶香四溢,茶湯黃澄明亮。

北京烤鴨絕對值得您再三光顧。它是我至今嘗過最美味的佳餚之一。
