Kwee Zeen, Sofitel, Hangzhou

Bonjour!  Welcome to the meticulously renovated contemporary all day dining restaurant Kwee Zeen at the Sofitel Hangzhou, Westlake.

Alas!  By now you would have guessed right pronounced as “Cuisine”, this lively open kitchen like no other with the highlights of a magnificent eye catching patisserie display, are not only a feast for the eyes but sprouting with a wide array of mouth-watering French and Chinese cuisine, all served on a buffet platter that you may manoeuvre through a great meal.

Diners can op towards a delectable spread on the à la carte menu that will offer you no less in quality.  The hotel sits on the picturesque banks of the Westlake; with the floor-to-ceiling windows, diners get an unobstructed panoramic view of street life in a bustling neighbourhood while satisfying their taste buds.

Thomas Board has been appointed by Sofitel Hangzhou Westlake as Western Chef, overseeing the operations of Kwee Zeen All Day Dining.  As Thomas Board claims, the accent of what he calls his cooking style is a fusion between vintage and mod.  He’s certainly into bright colours, bold flavours and contrasting textures – great on the eyes and on the palate too!  He’s on the constant look out for new ways and state of the art techniques to approach cuisine.

One of the dishes to look forward is Chef Thomas Board’s Roast Leg of Lamb, marinated for 24 hours in Olive Oil, red wine, lamb stock, cumin, salt, pepper, garlic, carrots, onions and celery.  How does that sound!  That’s not all, for something freshly cook, crispy and appetizing will be the pan-fried bun stuffed with crab roe.

With a thin soft wrap, delicious fillings of crab roe and pork, golden colour crispy bottom, its best served hot.  Last but not least and yes it is dessert, the French Handmade Ice Cream Maison Délice only at the Sofitel.  Not a single drop of water is used in the Maison Délice ice cream, only cream and milk imported from France, what’s more fresh produce sourced from round the world.  All of that will leave you salivating for more!

Thomas Board a professional well-travelled chef to Australia, England and Germany, with his continuing journey of creativity whilst maintaining high standards of quality and his flair for gastronomy, certainly sees him taking gourmet buffets to an unprecedented international level around the globe.

The restaurant operates from 6.30am to 11pm daily.  So what do you say, I guess it’s time to treat yourself to life’s best pleasures!
